Bother to Brother
Well, brother, I’ll tell you:
School ain’t been no piece of pie.
It’s had razors,
And rocks,
And ripped crust,
And places with no filling in
It.
But all the time
I kept writing,
And working papers,
And studying,
And sometimes going to take tests
Where there ain’t been no studying.
So, boy, don’t give up.
Don’t’ you skip classes.
‘Cause you find it kinda hard.
Don’t you fail now-
For I’m still working, brother,
I’m still studying,
And life for me ain’t been no piece of pie.
