Our Minds

I can’t sleep at night

So I lay and gaze up at my ceiling

Pitch black

My curtains reveal the dead of night

The stars are hiding

And the moon has faded

I cannot see

I guess I was unaware

Of what the mind can do during the night

What it can make you feel

And what it can make you believe

I feel as if your mind takes control

And you go deep into thought

Of all the bad

Your weaknesses

The things that make you blue

You end up wishing you were never born

Or that you were dead

The night is where the evil comes out

And where most of it stays

But some thoughts

Some evil

Will stay with you

Night and day

My poem is basically a personal kind of thing, where at night I end up feeling all these things, and thinking about all of the things wrong in my life. It is about how in the middle of the night, when I can't sleep, my mind controls my emotions and reminds me of the thngs I am insecure of, the things that make me weak. I'm pretty sure most teens have had a bad night where they are just sad, and think bad thoughts.
