"It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends."

The paper is white like her skin
as her pen leaves permanent imperfections
on the surface of her worth.

The paper is white like her skin
as she uses process of elimination
to tear up the leftover scraps
of herself.

The paper is white like her skin,
and in the mundane multiple choice
she believes life lies.

The paper was white like her skin,
but then she tore them both up
in a mistake she called perfection.

This piece is about a friend I used to know. She had a nervous disorder and was OCD about her grades. She thought that her grades where the only reflection of herself that existed and in this poem I try to capture her mindset.
