As we charge into battle i tell you to fight your hardest and stay close

The battlefield is pure agony and heartbreak

As i look over my shoulder back to you, i see more and more red

I look back again, but this time you have given up hope

I have no choice but to strive forward and be brave

Although I wish I could stop looking back

Because for me there is still a future...

The author's comments:
I was inspired by losing someone close to me and by watching a war movie. This poem is about the people who serve for our country with their fellow soldiers but it is also about when I lost my cousin to cancer and told him to fight his hardest with the illness, and how i had to keep looking forward, even when he had lost the battle.
