Individual
“There was a time”,
I feel as though I say that a lot,
it’s my own little cliche,
something that doesn’t quite make me different
or the same as everyone else, but
there was a time where
difference defined a person,
a time where standing out counted
as a chance worth taking,
a single word could affect
someone else’s thoughts in
a way that no one would have
ever guessed,
that time seems to have
slipped away,
gone and lost, for
in our time
shadows cast a mold
uncompromising,
telling us the correct way,
that “normalcy” is the only way, but
what do we do when
we are thrown into the world with
nothing but our imagination to find our way out?
We dream
we imagine
we become different, but
ourselves,
so say what you wish,
dream as big as your world takes you,
paint a picture of yourself that
can’t be erased, so
let normalcy call you
weird,
strange,
or any other name it finds to define and
capture your originality,
although thats just it,
you don’t define us,
we do that ourselves.
