Summer leaves me by your side,
with dewy grass green and late night rides.

Fall rolls in and leaves die fast,
they say the good things never last.
But with our sweaters intertwined,
our lips meet once more and you stay mine.
We go and drink a cup of tea,
we feel okay and you don't leave me.

Winter comes and times are sad,
but you hold me tight while winds blow mad.
By the fire you point outdoors,
while snow falls gently,
I'm still yours.
Our feet tangle in a mess of soft white sheets, for we still don't know what we may meet.
Warm and secure we tackle winter day by day,
But I wouldn't have left you anyway.

Spring is here and the sun returns,
what happens next makes my stomach churn,
You leave me to go love so and so,
and I am left to learn the hardest lesson:

Is it true that all good things must go?
