Death is a different kind of sunset
As you watch the sun fall from the sky
Each color is brighter
They burn across the sky
Staining the blue canvas in the spirit of fire
A picture appears with unspoken beauty
It is alive and hums with sadness, anger, happiness,
No artist can paint it perfectly
To capture its essence is to capture a beating heart in the sky

But when it finally falls past the edge of the earth
You feel something wrong
And in your heart you know it will not rise again
As the blanket of night covers the sky you see the moon is missing
The reflection of the sleeping sun cannot be found
Your heart feels it before your mind can understand it
And it tears a little, so small only the silence can hear it
The tears begin to fall
And you realize they are stars
As the night cries with you

You didn't know it would be the last time you saw the sun in the sky
And you think of what you should have said
The words you would've whispered to the heavens
So that the sun might stay a while longer

Your mind is lost in the wind as you try to remember it all
Every color
Every shade
Every day
Every hour
Every minute
Every second
All the times you ever saw it set
And the moon would come, to promise light of tomorrow.

But the moon is missing this time
That sunset will never come again
And your eyes burn
And all you can see is stars
And yours ears ache
And all you can hear is the silence
And your heart falls
Because all you can feel is the burn of the sun on your skin
As the last light of day fades into your soul
With a flare of heat that matches the flame of life and hurts so much
That for a moment, you can't breathe
And the night holds you as you fall

It is the last sunset
And you would give anything to see it just one more time
It is the last sunset
