I was born from the sea, only
to be spat out onto the shore
and then buried.

on the other side of the sand
beyond, enough that sunlight
does not reach, I feel you.

barefoot in midday, standing still like me
all of the rust and stardust
the sea has pushed away

kiss the under side of boats
that have just found a shore
again, but not so as you’d notice.

I've never been to the beach and I've never had sea salt tangle my hair up, but seashells have always meant a lot to me. They're buried under the sand, and they most often always are, hardly ever brought to the surface. It is however, still incredibly important to remember that they are there, and they are worth something. They're the first things to greet a shit that hasn't sunk, the first ones to congratulate those who can return from the sea.
