Romance
Flickering candles,
Hide a face we wish to see.
Hidden by the darkness,
But this is romantic.
What magic is in dripping wax?
At every fancy dinner
We light a candle, a flame of fire,
And this is romantic.
The giving of flowers,
Romantic this too.
But they will die, droop and dry
Why do we find romance in dying roses?
A necklace or a ring,
A piece of stolen earth.
Leaving much of it destroyed in the process
But this is romantic
Why is this strange romance so romantic?
