Becoming a butterfly

He deserved a blank new page
Because he wore one that's wrinkles and spent
Like soft cloth that covered his lament
Over the things he's done in his dumb blinded youth
Rushing to grow up as he came to age

But I have a girl with a broken heart
Waiting for the one she loves
to break the spell
That tied him to his old shell
And to learn who he is
So that when he gives her a kiss
She won't have to settle for half a heart

But as he finds out who he is
He might not think she is his
He might try to find some new
A new love to pursue
And she who us tried and true
Will wait for him

Oh how heart broken she is
Half regretting her choice to let him go
Half knowing it was inevitable
Beacuse she too had to change

Maybe they will find each other behind their new shells
And ask if the other has been doing well
But their will be a feeling of pain and distress
Because nevertheless things can't be the same

Traces of who they are leek past their mask
The past can't be erased no matter how they try
So they'd rather pass each other by
For now he had become just a stranger with a familiar face
