Blink. Blink. Blink.
The black flashing bar taunts me.
Blink. Blink.
It’s mocking me.
Blink. Blink. Blink.
It’s as if it knows,
But how could it?
Blink.
It must.

Blink. Blink. Blink.
I can’t move.
Blink. Blink.
I want to.
Blink. Blink.
My creativity is spent
Blink. Blink. Blink.

Blink. Blink.
Dragons! Fairies! Elves!
Blink. Blink.
Orphans! Superheros!
Blink. Blink.
Victorian London!
Blink.
Ancient Rome!
Blink.
Music! Art! Memory!
Nature! Stars! Ribbon!
Blink.
Flowers! Chair! Light switch!
Hair brush! Pencil! Sock!
Lights! Stones!
Blink.
Blink. Blink. Blink.
Nothing.

Blink. Blink. Blink.
Maybe not now.
Blink. Blink. Blink.
It’s just not time.
Blink. Blink. Blink.
Click.
Blink. Blink.
Slam.
Blink. Blink. Blink.
Blink. Blink. Blink.

Language is humanity’s most important tool. The ability to use and master it is the greatest skill one can learn. However, when one cannot express themselves, one becomes trapped and confined. Not being able to articulate what one wants to say can drive one mad.

Writer’s block is a problem faced by all writers, and a blank page can almost seem like it is taunting you. We’ve all got different ways of dealing with it, whether it be a cup of tea, listening to music, or simply getting up and leaving it for a while.

My name is Andrea Pestana and I attend Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Newmarket Ontario. I traditionally adapt stories from books, movies, and theatre productions to scripts for the stage or screen. I also enjoy writing original stories and scripts. I dream of making quality films that provoke thought and conversation that will somehow benefit the world.
