Foundation Fright
The clock turned six-thirty.
Actors flooded the dressing rooms.
Opening night was upon the theatre.
The small girl in unknown territory;
a tiny foot on a big stage.
The little girl
ready for her debut
slipped on her blue
button down shirt
tied her tie
she skipped
to the makeup table
Fingering the eye brush
tickled it on her cheek
she didn’t know how to paint
and taking the foundation
her shaking hands spilled it
All over
All over her costume
All over her
blue button down
All over her tied tie
She ran
ran down the halls
fear in her eyes
tan dripping
down her pants
Humiliated
