Typically, you would not assume this to be the words of a woman battling Stage Four metastatic breast cancer to the lungs, liver, brain, and other vital organs. A mother, a wife, a friend, a sister. In my eyes, a hero. Crissy Fox recently passed away after a long battle with cancer on January 7, 2014. I will not delve into the details of her suffering; for it was not the way she died that inspired me, but the way she lived. Each day she woke up with a smile. Through the baldness, sickness, and sadness she taught me to have faith, that there was a plan for each of us. A complaint never rolled from her lips. Though my time with her was numbered, a mere bounded set in my existence, I will not measure our time in a quantity, but quality. Though I mourn her being gone, I smile, because she taught me too. Her bright and beautiful outlook of the world was a gift. The weight I carry is her absence, but in her memory I will always use this weight to dedicate myself to making her proud. I will forever strive to shine as bright as her.
