feel safe
i need you to go to a place where you can see the sky
and i need you to close your eyes and breathe and fill every single part of your body
with the smell of air and cold and numb
and i need you to just stand there for a minute or two,
then i need you to tilt your head back and open your eyes and the very first thing you’ll see are the stars and the moon and the grey cloudy haze that surrounds them
and i need you to count every single star that you see and i don’t want you to ever think that you’re gonna run out of time because i promise,
you have all the time in the world,
and as you count every star i want you to lie down on the ground and remember that those twinkling dazzling balls of light will always always be there for you,
i need you to see that you are the moon that is so broken and small and full of craters
and i need you to know that it’s okay because you are forever surrounded by heaven
and it's okay because wishes upon wishes have been made on you,
i need you to know that you are the moon and you are anchored to something greater than you,
and i need you to remember that you will always control how the tides turn.
