Severed Ties
While I’m sitting here
Laying on my bed
I think about the world
Turning in my head
What the world is like around me
How others are doing
What is happening in this moment?
While I’m comfy in my bed
Kids sleeping on the ground
Scared making little sound
Children all alone and scared
Waiting to eat real food again
Needing to feel happy and loved
Their hope lingers on
Having doubts and worries
While trying to stay strong
Thoughts and feelings of how
To sooth and care
For their younger
Scared Siblings cling on
While I’m laying here safe
And protected in my bed
Millions of children are still clearly
Waiting for someone to love them
Come save them and care for them
Their hope never fades away
