The Melody of My Heart
It’s not perfect
Like the others
A grand one
With pristine surfaces
And golden oak
In the center of a golden room
Instead, it’s in the corner
Of a dusty room
A small one, dimly lit
With weathered oak
But at least it’s not hollow
Like the others
The keys need tuning
The tuning takes time
But time never sizzles out
Like a withering flame
Like the others
So my keys work
And even though
They can’t play showy, loud songs
When my fingers dance
Across the black and white
They play beautiful music
And that opens the door to
My piano
My heart
