Silence, so fragile that it breaks once its name is uttered, is congruent with the volatile nature of life, so easily is it shattered
Not ever an option with our thoughts constantly demanding our attention, gives way to growing frustration for many who fail to control the inability to attain inner silence
The eerie time spent pondering when silence falls upon us can spark ideas of colossal positive consequence or can lead to rash and rushed decisions with disastrous effects
And yet, within the orchestral masterpieces of music, forced silence is an additional extra that contributes to the overall symbolic nature of many noted scriptures
And for these reasons, those that choose to break silence may receive either gratitude or distain as they destroy the highly regarded accomplishment of no sound
A man ever searching for silence may never reach his goal, the factors required to achieve it so great in their numbers
Because ultimately, the feat of total silence is an unachievable objective, not ever granted even to those most deserving
A ticking clock passing the time, the reverberation of wind whirling around any obstacles, or simply the sound of silence passing always fills the ears of those who listen regardless of whether or not they wish to hear it
But those who choose to really listen in the hopes of hearing a hush, calm and total silence can never be content as the nature of their desires is truly impossible
So for these reasons, man has constructed an idealistic creation of peace with no distractions of the modern world that is alive with the buzz of noise
However, the only true grasp of silence that we will ever encounter within our existence must be death, the irony of this fact lost amongst many
Whilst alive, suppressing sound to remain mute is not idyllic as communication would have to cease So why is it the idea of silence that so many seek, rather than wishing to avoid it as much as is humanly possible?
I suppose in the end, that is the very definition of silence: an idea, fiction and simply unfeasible
So this leads me to question, repeatedly throughout my days, what exactly is this silence?
