The Beast
I am a beast
Trapped in my cold, dark castle
I am a beast
Nothing more
Nothing less
I hide from the people
So that they may not see the matted fur
That used to be human flesh
But I am human no longer
With my long fangs bared
And my claws as sharp as knives
I turn my face away from the world
So it does not have to gaze upon my hideous face
So it does not have to cringe in repulsion
At what I am
At what I used to be
I grow weary watching the rose petals drop one by one
Counting the days until my curse is forever
I have given up hope
I never had hope
That I would find the girl of my dreams
The one that is meant for me
The one who will heal my heart and soul
The one who will see me for who I am
Not for the beast people see me as
The one who will break my curse
And be my love for the rest of eternity
I am the beast.
