Night Terror
I step in the water
A feeling of delight takes me over
Its cool, yet i feel so warm
My feet begin to tickle
A bluegill grazes my ankle
The sunlight reflects off the sea
And I see a boat afloat in the distance
The marina smells so familiar
and reminds me of my home long ago
The sounds of the seagulls echo about
I notice my feet shifting throughout the sand
And start to sink into it as
I try to pull them out
But they are quickly engulfed and i start to slink lower
The water is almost at head level now
I try to dig my legs up, but my effort is futile
My head is now covered with water like the nile
I scream, but everything is silent
I cannot move my legs.
As i cry out all of a sudden the water becomes cold
But is not engulfing me
I taste the air, but darkness still surrounds me
I rub my eyes not sure where i am.
Light shines all around now, and i hear the voice of my mother
It is 3 A.M. on a fair thursday morning.
It was only a nightmare, many must have them
