Cornered, helpless they fight
Alike to fools
No hope but to fly
Yet they stay
Living, insentient, survival
The dark returns as brothers fade
Dust, ashes, in the wind
Only extinction stays
Yet they stay
Struggling, grasping, dying,
The dark returns, nearly gone
Rivers red, dead air, blank faces
Until the last croak is blared
Yet they stay
Fighting, barely surviving
For with these few live the many
Until the dawn they stay
Fighting, barely surviving
Yet they stay
