Abandonment

It’s like this feeling of abandonment
creeps on my back like icy sweat,
and I am scared to close my eyes
because I fear the eyes I make love to as I fall asleep
will disappear from within my sheets,
leaving me isolated in a bed meant for two.
And its not that I don’t trust your love,
but I can’t help wrapping my whole body
around yours to ensure that I’ll never
have to be alone, without you by my side.
