The Man in the Liquor Store
You intrigue me,
Your 25 year old face is only a mask
covering the child bubbling internally.
Your motions and gestures lack the confidence,
what which is supposedly brought with age.
The quivering hands extending from thin shoulders
lose hold of my change, making them seem disconnected.
Polite passers by throw piteous glances,
but only I catch the burning red on those iceberg cheeks.
Apologise as he may try,I cannot resist the remorse that sways me.
He calls out to me as I leave,
However, I know it is only my wishing mind willing it so.
