Nostalgia
There's this kid on a
swingset outside my school.
I can see her through the window
in honors history.
She reminds me of me
when I was five years old,
how I used to
swing higher and higher, and at the
very top, I jumped.
Of course, it only resulted
in scraped knees and
woodchips in my clothes,
but somehow,
in my five-year-old mind,
it was worth it
for the nanosecond I spent
with the world far beneath me
and the wind in my hair.
