to dead parks
do you think that swing sets think of us
 when we've grown away.
i was sat in a park
 old and abandoned
and i wondered when the blue plastic would
 long for our laughter
when the jungle gym would cry
rust in mourning, say goodbye to
small sneakers and wood chips in short fingers.
do you think they could feel it.
if they noticed the confidence in our calves
and new weight in our backpacks
 and our absence.
