An Empty Promise
It’s become a thing we think we know, not a thing we think we feel.
It’s become a word just easily tossed around, throw away.
It’s lost all value it ever held; it’s lost its meaning.
Its sole definition has been twisted over time.
Does it even have a definition anymore?
It’s something we are forced to say until we grow old.
It’s a robotic response.
It’s more of a threat than a promise
It ruins relationships rather than reinforcing them.
It’s become something we try to replicate, not something we make our own.
It’s become an idea of perfection.
It’s become less than a feeling.
It’s become simply just a word.
Will we ever really rediscover it’s initial meaning?
Was there ever an initial meaning to begin with?
Who set the precedent for the people to come?
Who started the revolution?
The revolution that would soon be the downfall of a great era?
Was it the dawn of a new era?
Or was it the change in society?
Was it when we changed our values?
Or did we even have these values in the first place?
What really is, love?
