They decorate the inky blanket of darkness,
Twinkling and shining as they catch the wishes that float up to them.
They are the light in the dark,
Leading people to their dreams,
Making all their wishes come true,
Guiding them and showing them the way.
They are the inspiration for some,
Guardians to others,
And always there when you need them.
Toss your wishes and dreams to the bright lights above,
And watch as they stay constant always,
Never leaving your side.

The author's comments:
I was thinking about how you can wish on the first star you see and how in many stories stars lead people to safety or to something amazing. They're always up in the sky but many people don't take the time to appreciate them and just stop and think. It doesn't matter about what you think about but stars are always there to listen.
