Consumed
The pain, the bitter darkness
Haunting me, calling me, surrounding me
It’s always there
Lurking in the back of my mind
Creeping into my happiest thoughts
Vanquishing every smile
Bringing tears of guilt and depression
Following me
And then a spark of hope
A mere spark- fading before it even comes
But it’s there
A white in the black of everything
A light in the dark eternity
It’s nothing and something at the same time
Inching toward me
Me inching toward it
The distance between us grows smaller
The light, the white, growing
Expanding even
And then it consumes me
