I am Denver
I was born into a beautiful world many years ago
Surrounded by flat land where the wind would blow
My growth spurt hit and I stretched up a mile high
Near me, mountains raised into the sky
From season to season, I dried out then it would snow
The rocky mountains prospered with gold
Calling for men young and old
These men came to me from all around
I soon became a little, quaint town
By how many men could I hold?
People continued to venture west
But even at my utmost best
I knew that I could only withstand so much harm
Yet they couldn’t resist my sweet charm
So I have slowly become depressed
With progression, my skyline began to change
Skyscrapers and factories caused others buildings to rearrange
Millions of cars drive fast and congest every day
All tainting the crisp sky making it grey
And irritating my skin which felt so strange
One day a beautiful blue horse will end my pain
Or I might just go mentally insane
People travel just to see my colors or to ski
Oh, how I long to be free
But for now I am forced to live in my fame
