Alone at Antietam
There we were, alone and scared.
Minutes away from death.
We all thought, but none dared
to make a dash and never come back.
Staring us in the eyes was it,
the terrible monster.
Glowing red eyes, and sharp claws,
We had no chance.
Fire rose and the smoke choked
not a soul alive,
not even the earth.
