for the friend we all have
For the friend who used to hug me tighter than before
For the friend that used to tell I was beautiful everyday
The girl who I met on the first day of first grade, and we clicked liked legos, grew together like tree that also grew together
But this girl morphed into another girl; she slid down a carnival ride that never was on track to come back up
She dragged me down into the depths of her hell
We stayed clicked together like legos, we shared our problems like barbies
Her anorexia became ours, her depression, her anxiety, her abuse, all ours
We stayed together like legos on the bedroom floor of a younger brother
I loved her
And I wonder every damn day how we love people that tell us to take
one more hit
one more shot
pop one more pill
suggest I put on one more layer of makeup to cover the hurt she took from her heart and stuck into mine
I used to have these big eyes that looked at the world with trust
Love
But now I am a broken lego left on the of a brother away at college and I can’t stick to anyone
