someday he will love you
I can’t figure out what boys want.
How do I make myself beautiful?

My dear, let me tell you that
one day there will be a man, and
He won’t care for long hair or short hair,
just as long as it’s your hair. He will
not prefer skirts to sweats, rather, he will watch
with a smile as you dance around in
your underwear. He’ll notice all the
things you despise about yourself, and he
will not love you in spite of them,
He will love them, nurture and cradle them,
kiss them until you find them beautiful yourself.
He will listen, with peaked interest, to every song that
you recommend and he’ll be patient when
you choose to bury your nose in a book
 over making breakfast.

He will arrive when you least
expect him but trust me, my dear,
he will be so worth the wait.
