I met a man last night in the driver's seat of my demolished sedan. Police reports claim that
I lost control, if only steering wheels could veer on their own.

Ascension was like returning home, lifting further away from the demons beneath me, still clawing at my sole. They had already torn away the other.

The golden skies and cotton floorboards
paved my way toward pearly gates--barricaded by
a figure cloaked in white. Our eyes did not meet.

No love for the man who imprisoned my love behind bars. The angel stood behind him, glowing--
further illuminating the reason behind my travel.

But soon to find as I raced closer, all I could see was the shadow that towered above me-- growing bolder with each step. The man in white hoisted up a hand.

He would not let me pass, he claimed that my timing was untimely. It killed me to realize that claim
was true.

The angel approached me-- her eyes glistened like they had never seen pain. She said I must return
and that I left a piece of us behind.

She told me that other angels fly even where there are no heavens-- she never expected me to fly on my own.

She told me to close my eyes--

A blink and I awoke-- shocked, bearing a smile. A man cloaked in white was hovering above my hospital bed.
