A Damaged Past
He tips the bottle back
as the potent Tennessee whiskey
shoots down the barrel of his throat
and into his hollow stomach.
The process repeats, until his ammunition
runs dry.
The blood he wears
stains deep inside his ravaged mind.
Every day he fights constantly with his sanity.
Blaming himself for his lost brothers.
His memories are vivid and gruesome.
He drinks to escape the horrible battle
that he relives inside
his grief-stricken head.
And so he follows the same strict regimen
every day until the bottle runs dry,
again.
