Unclench
Why am I holding a fist?
 Because I wear a cross around my throat.
 I hold it tight, and it burns sometimes.
 I whisper as I walk, but not to myself.
 You can whisper with me.
 I’ll show you what I hold.
 It was meant to be shared.
 You think I am teasing,
 That I am not serious.
 It is just a symbol, you say.
 It is a symbol;
 It is a promise.
 It is a spear in the side,
 It is dying on love,
 It is two lives forever entwined.
 So I cannot,
 I will not unclench my fist.
 Don't you understand?
 I am holding a hand.
