with a lighter in the breeze

in shoes made of cement
Its like trying to walk on water
or trying to swim through pavement

It’s like racing snails
or painting nails
with polish that won’t stick.

It’s like cooking rust
or chewing dust
or hitting birds with bricks.

It’s getting stuck in an avalanche
of molten hot molasses
It’s like trying to have a social life
and still pass all your classes.

on machines that full out suck
and expect us to make works of greatness
