I always have those people that look down on me
The only thing I can do is ignore them and prove them wrong
Show them all the hard work I’ve done that they haven’t
Then I’m the one that gets the spot on the team that I’ve worked so hard for

I always want to be the best
But I can’t always be the best at everything
I always want to be number one
But there is always that one person that is in front of you

Just because they have the ability that makes them become number one
Doesn’t mean anything, it’s the practice that makes perfect
Where I spend every second dribbling the soccer ball
Where I spend hours on the un- mowed, bumpy field
I spend days trying to shave seconds off my mile time
And I spend years playing the game I love

The best part of the game
Is when I put my long blonde hair up and,
Slide on my head band
Tuck in my jersey that I’m proud to wear
Pull up my stained, white socks
Lace up my orange cleats
And go out there and play my heart out

Remember…

All the drive, sweat, tears and heart I’ve put in
Because I deserve one of those 17 spots
As I tell myself everyday
“Today I will do what other don’t,
So tomorrow I can accomplish what others don’t. “
