Seeds
We shared a vibrant red
Pomegranate
By the window in her room
We sat on the pane
We picked the seeds one by one
Outside of the window
Was a violent place
Our neighborhood we called it
What a disgrace
We picked picked picked
Those pomegranate seeds
Until there were no more
And we smiled at each other
Oh, the warmth in her eyes
Oh, the warmth in my heart
We talked on the phone
When she moved
We talked a lot
I loved her more
And I crept up on myself
It crept up slow
It covered me up
Made the strong winds blow
A gale
A gale
Blew my heart away
We grew apart
I missed her so
My love was bare
My heart was cold
And the next time we saw each other
I thought she'd forgotten me
Was she still warm?
I thought she changed
When we really both did
And I still loved her so
I still loved her so
I ran away
I ran to her
With another one with me
One who loved me too
She looked at me
With the warmth in her eyes
"You've come to live with me!
I've missed you so!"
I looked back at her
Hollow inside
"Yes, I'm here,
I need your help."
What am I trying to get away from?
Myself back at home?
I had the ones
I love
We were together again
At last
We were together again
At last
And I was
happy
Confusion and sadness
Not even I had
The scars remind me
Of who I am
But my love
My love
I'm with her at last
My love
My love
Shall never ever pass
She's warm
And she makes me smile
A beautiful broken smile
One that spreads throughout
I never want to go
But it came
And dragged me back
When had it happened?
When had I gone?
Was it those pomegranate seeds
That we ate one by one?
The inside of me
I no longer feel
I ask all these questions
What am I about?
And I dream
We'll live together
With the rain pouring
Wash me off
Wash the street
Wash my loved ones
Make us clean
When I'm with her
I feel again
When I'm with them
I can remember
I remember
Where I've hidden my smile
We'll leave by
sunset
We'll leave by night
With a gale
We'll blow
Together we'll rest
I'm blind around her
I can't see
The sadness around me
the madness that creeps
I may be insane
But how am I to know?
Her love is so thick
But I am so cold
She most likely doesn't know
That this is for her
My heart and soul are poisoned
weakening
dying
She's all I have left
And the beauty of us
the beautiful red
Of the pomegranate seeds
The brilliant red I bled
Her beauty
Her smile
I can be happy again
Oh, how I love her so
Oh, how I wish she were here
Mother is supposed to love child
Mother's supposed to love
But the blame is me
Everyone's distress
I can't give up
Because
Her love would freeze cold
She'll want to be with me
She'll want to be home
Can't we run?
But my troubles will follow behind
They know what I'm doing
They know where I am
I lie down
The pain in my head
I lie down
And shut my eyes
And in my sleeps
The dark comes out
I can not rest
So I just weep
Bust that doesn't help
So I cut deep
I want the thickness
Of her love
I want the misery
Of the dark
Both can't mix
I must choose
I'll feel her love
When I go away
I'll feel her love
When she sees me that day
I'll know she needs me
When she wants me back
But she'll never feel it
Until I'm gone.
