Nightmares
Instead of dreams
Is what I get when I fall asleep
Nightmares
Haunt me and fill me with dread
Making me want to just stay up all night
And never go to bed
They start out all innocent
Covering up the monsters within them
Then they burst forth
And rage and fury fill them
They rip and tear at my mind
Burning themselves into my brain
Causing me so much pain
Nightmares
Suffocate me
Telling tales of death and misery
Nightmares
Unleash themselves before my eyes
And just make me want to cry
And every morning
When I wake up
I have to relive bits of them
Throughout the day
And I will not be okay
Because the paranoia hits me
Like a thousand bricks
And those nightmares
Scare me half to death
Because they are so realistic
Nightmares

The inspiration for this piece actually came from the nightmares that I have every single night, I have had them ever since I was a baby and they are truly horrific.
