THE BLANK
I could be the leaves at fall,
or the chocolate milk.
But I’m not…
I could be the tranquility,
the uncovered sky,
or even the sound of the waves on a placid day.
But I’m not…
I could be the darkness
or the feeling of desperation.
But I’m not…
I could be the blood and the hurt,
or even the revenge and the war.
But I’m not…
I could be the harmony.
I could be the trees on a windy day.
I could even be the irrelevance.
But I’m not…
I could tell you what I am
but, instead
I will leave a blank.
