Flip Side
Flip Side
I never thought I would be on the other side.
Twelve years in the making and I always dreamed of this moment
the day when I would be done
with parents
school
siblings
but I didn’t really know.
Why my sunbaes complained,
why they stressed out so much,
because not only am I done with these bonds,
I’m also done with
food
shelter
money.
Independence comes with a price
a price that I can barely afford,
but I’m willing to pay.
Maybe it is truly time to realize
that on the flip side I can survive
and more importantly
thrive,
realize my inner side.
On the flip side is where I would rather reside,
despite any price.
