Wishing for a Good Night's Sleep
To know a good Night’s sleep
is to know a stranger you’ve met on the street.
You know it exists
yet it’s just out of reach
so you let the insomnia set in.
A few minutes here and a few there
but not the eight hours that you
desperately need to get you through
the long day tomorrow.
When finally a yawn
Comes sneaking upon your face
You know this is your chance
But then comes a thud and a squeak
And what do you know?
You can’t fall asleep
because it’s morning,
and the sun is calling.
With drowsy eyes and slow movements
You awaken from an unslumber of sorts.
Was it a dream or reality?
Were you asleep? No.
