The Year of the Populars
The year She became

 Popular

 Was amazing

 She wore cute,

 Flashy,

 Attention-grabbing clothes

 Makeup circled Her eyes

 People turned to

 Stare

 She grew into Her body.

 Loooooooooong legs

 Strutting on Her personal

 Runway

 The school was Her

 Castle

 "Mine

 All mine."

 That's when everything

 Changed

 Foul words

 Splattered the once

 Hallowed ground

 Anger and jealousy

 Plagued the land.

 The Populars

 Turned away

 Because of old friends.

 An old life,

 That didn't meet their standards

An old life still clung to Her,

 Desperate.

 She cut them off,

 Severed all ties.

 She broke

 Best friends

 Glasses, then

 Pointed and laughed.

 Hurt,

 Defeated,

 Best friend retreated,

 Deep into

 Herself.

 Best friend cried

 And She was not there.

 Best friend was as

 Silent

 As a shadow,

Which is what Best friend had become.

 She never noticed.

 She simply laughed, and

 Remembered

 With disdain those days,

 Wasted with

Best friend and books and nerd talk.

Days which could have been spent

Flirting, the most important thing in Her life,

Or shopping, the second most important thing .

 She never saw

 The sun

 But she knew

 When the rain came.

 The sun never shone

 On Best friend.

 Best friend simply cried,

 And no one held her,

Or told her she would be

 Okay.

 Best friend found

 People

 They gave her things,

 Things

 That made her happy.

 Best friend hadn't felt

 Happy

 In a long time.

 Best friend liked these

 People

 They laughed at her,

 And made things okay.

 They gave her things,

 Things

 That made her

 Forget.

 Best friend liked to

 Forget.

 When the rain came

 So did she.

 Pregnant

 With some guys baby

 That she met at a

 Party.

 She was no longer

 Pretty

 She was

 Petty.

 She lost everything,

 And gained

 Nothing.

 Best friend looked

 Down

 In disgust and told Her

 "No."

 She cried on her knees

 Best friend was

 Unforgiving,

 Uncaring,

 "You deserve

 Everything

 You get."

 Best friends hair was

 Black,

 When did it become

 Black?

 Her hair is blonde,

 It was brown before.

 She cried

 Best friend

 Pointed and laughed.

 She went home,

 Tired and hated.

 No one

 Was there.

 She cried but

 Best friend wasn't there to

 Hold her, to

 Tell her everything is okay.

 She tested the belt,

 Good and strong.

 Lacing it to her shelf,

 She hung herself,

 Like a twirling

 Christmas ornament.

 Best friend was at a

 Party.

 Not the good kind.

 Best friend saw

 Colors,

 Swirls,

 Music.

 And she was

 Happy

 Forgetting

 Until Best friend realized

 She was there,

 Looking like her old self

 They were in two

 Separate places

 But together.

 The

 Druggie

 And

 The Popular.

 Doing stupid things

 Like old times

 That end

 Badly

 But together.

 She was

 Discovered

 Almost immediately,

 And everyone was Her

 best friend again.

 No one was surprised at

 Best friends death,

 And no one pretended

 To care.

 From high above

 Her and Best friend

 Watched

 And patted the seat

 Beside them,

 Sweating and waiting

 For those others

 Who had

 No idea

 What awaited them.

 They pointed and laughed

 While Hells fire
 Burned
