The Way Things Are
When I walk in the room
they all assume
that I am inferior
and they are superior
but they’re not
and they mock all the dreams that I've sought.
They think they’re on the top shelf.
They think i can’t fend for myself
but their wrong.
They can make fun of me all day long
but I don't care
and I watch as they just sit and stare
into space
and they call me a disgrace
and it’s sad
but it makes me very mad
over time.
They look at me like I've made some sort of crime.
They won’t give me a chance
and it only takes one glance
to fill me with so much hate
that love can't even penetrate
but my will still fights
for my rights
of happy and joy
as you toy with me.
My personality is what you’re too dumb to see
and they still think that I’m not on par
but hey that's just the way things are.
