Paper and chalk
paper and chalk
all the kids gauk
at my outlandish teeth and stray hair
they smirk, as they waltz down the isle
at my smile I proudly bear
snowballs sting my red face
at an alarming pace
oh those middle school days
how I wish they were a haze
instead of being painfully clear
paper and chalk remind me of
the sheer hatred
that consumed me repeated. over. and over.
I walk boldly now
because I realize no matter how
gut wrenching it gets
Its me
who decides who I am
and who I want to be.
