Innocent

A child brings a lot to life
A child brings a smile
But if you ask what's brought to the child
He'll ponder for awhile

Erratic minds with endless dreams
Driving through his head
So ask that child, "Where is the place,
Your hungry wonders are fed?"

He'll stop and think., he'll look around
A furrowed brow in confusion
It's imagination that brings burning light
To this childs innocent illusion

Yet we wish time on, we wish to grow
We wish for bigger things
But what's more big than a careless soul?
As the smallest human being

My seven year old brother inspired me to write this poem on a summer day when I had been stressing about wanting to go to college as soon as I could, when I noticed how unhappy that stress made me and when I looked at my brother, playing outside without a worry in the world, I realized I shouldn't take the time I was given right now for granted, because in my eyes the best time of my life so far was when I was just as innocent as my brother, at seven years old just enjoying life.
