You cannot run from it
You cannot hold on to it
You may go to war with it
Yet you can walk away from it freely
You cannot take an eraser to erase it
Just let it be
Live for today
The past
The past is what lives behind you
Not beneath you
Nor beside you
It may reside in you
But do not let it consume you
Reminisce and keep moving
Let go of grudges you’re withholding
Within yourself
We try
We fail
We must keep walking
Just let it be
The past
Is what lives behind you
Do not let it consume you

I wrote this poem because I have had this personal struggle of moving forward from the past.Writing is a beautiful outlet for me and I enjoy it.
