the Fall
You know what it feels like
That feeling you get in your chest
Your stomach just jumped
Your heart's beating too fast
And too slow
There's a ringing in your ears
So loud that you can't hear it
And tears in your eyes
Stinging sweetly
And you gasp for air
But it's not enough
You don't even have to fall to feel it
It's a feeling that follows
Love
Rage
Fear
Heartbreak
Joy
Anguish
Relief
Insanity
You get cold sweats
And shaky hands
Feels like you're falling
But you never left that spot
Falling through the crust
And those honest lies
Faster
Faster
The faster you fall, the slower you think
And then you see the immovable object
Ground
It's getting bigger
And hungrier
And just before it swallows you up
There's a moment of peace
Your eyes wide open
And everything freezes in place
You take in a clean, cool breath
Your heart slows it's pumping
The ringing, and the noise, and the lies slowly fade
The weight on your chest sinks back Into it's cage
And then, you meet the ground
One last time
And all
you see
Is white
