The Life of a Social Network Addict
My alarm clock sounds beside my bed.
It is time to rise and shine!
My first order of business is to grab my phone,
and update my Twitter and Vine.
As my twitter app opens, I refresh my newsfeed,
and tweets appear on my screen.
I begin to ponder what had occurred,
during the night while I was asleep.
“Pulled an all-nighter to watch Netflix,” I read,
as I scroll through my recent news.
“#yolo” and “#swagger” and “#lol”
make up the tweets of America’s youth.
I engage in the lives of my celebrity idols,
Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and Paul.
“Had a blast on stage last night,” tweets Justin,
“Goodnight! and I love you all!”
When I am through with twitter and I am up to date,
I return to my home screen.
It is there where I choose to open my Vine
and watch videos of numerous teens.
I watch singing, dancing, laughing and more
of all topics teens yearn to express.
There are stunts, motivations, and absolute fails,
all In six seconds or less.
Once I’m through watching vines, I must start my day.
I get dressed and style my hair.
I slip on my shoes and brush my teeth,
and I still have time to spare.
Therefore, I explore my alternative apps
such as, Instagram and Snapchat too.
Both which include pictures and captions,
both containing something new!
Instagram is almost a relief on my brain.
It is my favorite of all of my apps.
I love to explore images galore,
and “like” my faves with a mere double tap.
Proceeding in my social networking spree,
I advance to my newest fling.
I open my Snapchat excited to see
what pictures my friends have to bring.
The pink icon lights up, I have 3 new snaps!
My anxious anticipation arises.
I am excited to see what my friends have in store.
I cannot wait to view their surprises!
As I open my snaps I giggle and laugh
and my morning is filled with glee.
I respond to their message with a quirky remark,
along with a silly selfie.
Despite all my joy I must prepare to depart
as the clock strikes five minutes to eight.
For my school bell rings at 8:00 sharp
and I must ensure that I will not be late.
My morning routine is a prime example
of how social media effects my life.
Without it, my life would not be the same,
and would be fulfilled with conflict and strife.
