The Life of a Cross Country Runner
Although no one thinks this sport is fun,
I love cross country, I love to run.
So many paths and so many hills,
Running new courses just gives me a thrill.
Practicing every day, mile after mile,
And every day I go home with a smile.
Our coach may be older, yet still very smart,
He wants us to succeed with his whole heart.
Morning practices are pretty rough,
Waking up at five every day is extremely tough.
Spaghetti suppers are a highlight of the year,
All the memories with my teammates I will always hold dear.
Bus rides home bring the team closer together,
Our conversations stray far from the cold November weather.
Hopefully we will all be running in Fort Dodge at the state meet,
With a team like ours we simply won’t accept defeat.
