A Light to Save the Day
The light shines
Bright and clear
It spills out
With lovely fluidity
It glows and glows
Like the luminous moon
Ready
For the stars and beyond
I see it
Embrace it
Wait for it to come
For my ways to be
Illuminated
And righted from wrong
But still and constantly
I'm left in the dark
In a desolate place
Tainted with immorality
The light creeps
Back to its source
Slowly and reluctantly
Still
It pauses at the door
Waiting for a shine
For a prompting order
That never comes
And slowly
Oh, very slowly
The hope blooms back
In my heart
A hope as bright
And inspirational
As the stars and galaxies
Above
It blooms and blooms
Infinitely
To a size
Even bigger than the world
And finally
It seems
Finally
My work
Has been noticed by all
The blood, the sweat
The strife, the heart
Justified
Forever and more
And so the light
Flows back
Happily
Grateful for its
Unfinished job
And engulfs me
In its golden embrace
With startling softness
And gentle grace
And finally
Oh, finally
When at last
My work is done
I fly back up
With the golden light
And right others
Who have been wronged
